Muntikan ko nang mabuga ‘yung kanin na may kahalong hotdog at itlog sa bibig ko. Ang aga-aga kung anu-ano na naman ang trip nitong nanay ko. Hindi ko alam kung matatawa o mabubuwisit ako sa tinanong niya.

Ako: Haller, ‘di ba may apo na kayo? Dalawa pa nga, di ba? Ayan o, si Cedric at si Zylord. Dalawang lalaki pa ‘yan.

Mommy: Siyempre, iba pa rin ‘yung galing sa iyo?

Naku po. Nandito na naman tayo sa usapang ganito. Minsan hindi ko rin maintindihan itong nanay ko eh. Kung anu-ano pumapasok sa utak.

Kung tutuusin, tanggap na naming lahat ang pagiging “out” ko. At kahit na nga kay Daddy na walang ibang anak na lalaki bukod sa akin, ok na ang lahat. Tapos, ganitong nakakalokang eksena ang bubulaga sa iyo sa napakagandang Linggo ng umaga.

Siyempre, uminit na naman ang dugo ko. Feeling ko, lahat ng dugo ko sa katawan napunta sa tenga ko. Kinontrol ang temperatura at high blood, nanay ko ang kaharap ko eh. Pero hindi maiwasang may manaka-nakang pagkainis ang makawala sa pagtitimping iyon.

Ako: Ano namang pinagkaiba nung magiging anak ko sa anak ni Ate Noemi at ni Melai? Eh kung tutuusin, mas alam ninyo na apo ninyo ‘yan dahil anak ninyo ang nagluwal?

Mommy: Siyempre, iba pa rin ‘yung sa lalaki. Ikaw ang nagdadala ng apelyido ng Daddy mo eh. Ikaw ang magpapalaganap ng lahi natin.

Ako: Juice ko, ano namang feeling ninyo sa akin, isang palahiang aso?

Mommy: Naku hindi. Isa kang dragon. Ang sungit mo eh.

Tambling ako sa nanay ko! Ngayon, alam ko na bakit naging bakla ako!

Ngayon at nitong nakaraang dalawang araw…

Minsan, hindi ko maiwasang maging malungkot…  Tulad na lang ngayon at nitong nakaraang dalawang araw…

Hindi ko maituturing ang sarili ko na maraming kaibigan.  Maraming kakilala at kabarkada, oo…  Pero mga tunay na kaibigan, hindi pa lalampas sa bilang ng mga daliri sa kamay.  Masasabi ko kasi na sila ‘yung mga kaibigang nakasama ko na sa hirap at ginhawa.  Mga kaibigang nakakaalam na ng tunay na likaw ng bituka ko, at magdadalawang isip akong pagsalitain sa burol ko.

Closure

If there were any song that would summarize all those years of being single and not being able to find the one who would fill all the emptiness and satisfy all the longing, this song would be it.

Tamad

Hindi ako makapaniwala kung gaano ako naging tamad nitong nakaraang buwan. Kung tamad ako noon, mas lalo pa yata akong naging tamad ngayon, lalo na sa pagsusulat ng blog.

Mahigit isang buwan na rin yung huli kong entry, at tungkol pa ito kay Ace. Marami nang nangyari, maraming bagay ang lumipas, pero ni isa, wala man lang akong naisulat.

Mahirap talaga kapag pagsusulat din ang pinagkakakitaan mo. Minsan, wala ka nang panahon para makapagsulat pa ng ibang bagay. Puro na lang press releases, news stories, feature articles na wala namang kinalaman sa buhay mo.

Sa ngayon, gusto ko lang munang mag-update. Hindi ko alam kung ano at saan ang patutunguhan ng sinusulat ko dito. Tulad ng buhay ko ngayon, sabug-sabog din ang isip ko, at natural, ang pagsusulat ko. Kaya, pagpasensiyahan niyo na.

Anu-ano na nga ba ang nangyari sa akin nitong nakaraang isa hanggang dalawang buwan?

Hearing that familiar laugh, no more…

Christian Ace Pasco, also known as Ace to his Varsitarian colleagues and UST Journalism classmates, will always be remembered for his signature sniggering laugh.

Whenever confronted with a particularly comic episode or whenever he cracked the usual Varsi jokes, Ace would hunch his back, scratch his head and softly make that unmistakable “hihihi”, as if suppressing an outburst of hilarity.

It’s just hard to imagine that we, his friends, will never see him laugh again.

Last September 4, Ace lost his battle with asthma – a lingering illness that had bothered him since his childhood days. He was 26.

Pagtuturo… Pagsusulat…

Iibahin ko muna ang lenggwahe ng blog na ito, sa ngayon. Napansin ko kasi na, minsan, boring pala ang mag-straight English. Lagyan muna natin ng “variety”, `ika nga nila.

Mahigit isang buwan din akong hindi nakapag-sulat ng entry dito. Bagamat nangako ako sa sarili ko mula nang simulan ko ang pagsusulat dito, hindi ako papalya sa pag-bo-blog isang beses isang linggo. Pero minsan, tinatalo ka ng sarili mo. Hindi ko alam kung bakit, pero nitong mga nakaraang linggo, tila ba hirap na hirap akong kumbinsihin ang sarili ko na magsulat ng entry dito.

Katamaran… pagiging abala sa trabaho… katamaran… maraming iniisip na bagay-bagay… Katamaran… Mga problemang wala namang kinalaman sa pagsusulat… Ay ang daming dahilan…

Ngayon, wala na akong maisip na dahilan para ipagpaliban pa ang pagsusulat…

Birthday Gift # 2 - Christina Aguilera’s Back to Basics Concert Tour

        

If there was one artist that I would wish to witness perform here in Manila, apart from Madonna and Mariah Carey, it would be Christina Aguilera. 

So one could only imagine how excited I was when learned that she had agreed to squeeze “Destination: Manila” into her very tight schedule.Two weeks prior to the concert, it seemed that my date with Christina was far-fetched.  While tickets were easy to come by, the resources to get the tickets were not.  Besides, tickets prices were not really that affordable.

But I got lucky, or blessed as some would say.  Two days to the big day, a VIP ticket presented itself to me, thanks to the two press releases I made for Taguig.  I called one of my best buddies and fellow Aguilera fanatic, Kris, who managed to bully her hubby into getting VIP tickets, and we were off to the Fort Bonifacio Open Field, where we were seated no more than 20 feet from the stage.

Birthday Gift #1 - Transformers

For years, I’ve wondered what happened to the “robot cartoons” I used to watch when I was still a kid.  In the age of comic superheroes being turned into a movie franchise, I’ve always wondered why nobody tried to make a movie out of the Transformers.

It was early this year, probably February or March, when I first saw the teasers for the Transformers movie.  And I confessed myself disappointed.  Even with their promise of great visual effects, the teasers failed to excite me, or even arouse my curiosity, at the very least.
